The Lion King R2 SE with DTS

have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of The Lion King for October 31st 2003. With the R1 release already set for October 7th this three week delay for the R2 release may well disappoint some, but good things come to those who wait as BVHE say the R2 set will offer a DTS track not found on the R1. The specifics of the R2 set have not yet been detailed but we expect all bonus material present on the R1 release to be carried over to the R2.

King of all DVD’s
Disney's The Lion King, the most critically acclaimed animated film ever, makes its UK Disney DVD debut on 31st October 2003. The much anticipated King of DVD's, The Lion King has won a staggering 81 awards, including 2 Academy Awards, since its first release in 1994, and on video in 1995.
Marked as one of Disney's crown jewels, this eagerly awaited film will be released as a two-disc, special edition DVD. Viewers can enjoy two versions of the film. The original 1994 theatrical release and an updated version featuring an all-new song 'Morning Report' written and performed by the writers of the Academy Award winning score, Tim Rice and Elton John. In its first ever digital presentation the Lion King Special Edition viewing experience has seen been seen the picture has been enhanced and re-mastered to create a truly unforgettable viewing experience for 2003. The sound also enjoys the benefit of a digital makeover with DTS sound.
The DVD extras will offer families and DVD collector's hours of fun interacting with the film's characters. The first disc contains audio commentary from the producer and directors. DVD Extras also include games, such as a personality profile to match viewers with a character from the feature, making of features and never seen before abandoned concepts. Deleted scenes include gems such as Bug Football and the song 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight', sung by Timon and Pumbaa.
On disc two, Lion King fans can experience a revolutionary virtual safari around Africa with comical duo Timon and Pumbaa illustrating how this epic feature was made - from concepts and animation to character design and award-winning music.
Despite the video market being less than half the size it is today the title sold over 3.7 million copies in 1995 and remains Disney's 3rd best selling title of all time.
