This Week's Cinema Releases

Coming into the tail end of the summer releases and now that all the heavy hitters are out of the way, here come some of the more interesting releases for the time of year. Tom Cruise makes a rare second appearance for the year in American Made, hoping to make up for the disaster that was The Mummy. Steven Soderbergh is back (we all know he would) with Logan Lucky, a comedy caper that looks like something straight out of the Book of Coen. Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit is a timely release and one has proved to be divisive in some quarters. Mimosas by director Oliver Laxe quietly walks onto a small number of screens and Your Name, as reviewed by Sara Miles late last year, arrives back in the UK.
