Cult Classic The Entity Given May Blu-ray Release Date
The Entity is a great example of a horror film finding its legs sometime after the original release. Veteran director Sidney J. Furie was the man behind the camera of this 1983 cult classic, a filmmaker also responsible for bringing us films such as The Ipcress File, Lady Sings the Blues and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Although we won’t hold the last one against him.
Barbara Hershey stars as Carla Moran, a hard-working single mother who, one terrible night is raped in her bedroom by someone – or something – that she cannot see. Met with sceptical psychiatrists, she is repeatedly attacked in her car, in the bath, and in front of her children. Could this be a case of hysteria, a manifestation of childhood sexual trauma, or something even more horrific? Now, with a group of daring parapsychologists, Carla will attempt an unthinkable experiment: to seduce, trap and ultimately capture the depraved spectral fury that is The Entity.
For those who need that extra bit of convincing, Quentin Tarantino has also long since signed off on the film, using the tense music from the bathroom scene to introduce Hans Landa to Shoshanna in Inglourious Basterds.
This Blu-ray release by Eureka Entertainment is available from 15 May. The extras include crystal clear 1080p resolution, option English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing and an updated HD trailer.
Those serious about their horror should take note of the date to make sure this becomes part of their collection.
In the meantime, you can check out the new HD trailer for the The Entity here.
