"Green Room" star Anton Yelchin dies in car crash aged 27

News broke today that Green Room and Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin has tragically passed away after being involved in a car accident this morning.

His publicist Jennifer Allen broke the news to Yahoo with the following statment:

"Anton Yelchin, a charismatic and rising actor best known for playing Chekov in the new "Star Trek" films, has died at the age of 27. He was killed in a fatal traffic collision early Sunday morning."

Yelchin, an incredible young talent, got his big break as Pavel Andreievich Chekov in J.J.Abrams Star Trek reboot in 2009 and since then went on to star in the remake on Fright Night in 2011, took the titular role in 2013's Odd Thomas and most recently went toe-to-toe with Patrick Stewart in the terrific Green Room.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at the horrendous time. A bright and shining star has gone out tonight. RIP Anton Yelchin.
