UK Box Office Report [Dec. 4 - Dec. 6]

Welcome to the UK Box Office Report for the weekend of Dec. 4 - Dec. 6

The following Top 5 list is determined by a films sterling gross at UK Cinemas between Friday and Sunday for this week.

(Also included are: The Films rank in the previous week, the number of weeks it has been showing as well as its total taking since its UK release)

[1] The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 - £2,240,723 (3rd Week - Total: £23,321,491)

[2] The Good Dinosaur - £1,701,333 (2nd Week - Total: £5,124,823)

[3] Spectre - £1,241,619 (6th Week - Total: £90,634,770)

[4] Bridge of Spies - £1,084,468 (2nd Week - Total: £3,891,395)

[5] Christmas with the Coopers - £683,217 (New Release)

In yet another incredibly slow week at the box office, the Top 4 remains the exact same as last weeks Box Office figures with Katniss and THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY - PART 2 is in Gold medal position even though it only took a further £2.2million which is a drop of 51% on last weeks takings. THE GOOD DINOSAUR only managed to scavenge a further £1.7million (a drop of 42%) which is low for a film with the Pixar name behind it.

Remaining in Bronze medal position this week is SPECTRE with a further drop in tickets sales of 43% but passes the £90million mark for its UK Box Office Gross. Last weeks new release and Oscar contender BRIDGE OF SPIES took just over a million this weekend taking its total to £3.8million for its two week total.

Out of the new releases this week (3 of which were Christmas related) only one managed to sneak into the Top 5 and that was CHRISTMAS WITH THE COOPERS only making £684k.

The other new releases VIKTOR FRANKENSTEIN and KRAMPUS could only muster a disappointing £431k and £412k respectively whilst the new Seth Rogen comedy THE NIGHT BEFORE made less than £280k in a disastrous opening weekend.

Still in the Top 10 is THE LADY IN THE VAN, CAROL and BLACK MASS.

Leaving the Top 5 from last weeks list but still remaining in the UK Top 10 was BROOKLYN, THE LADY IN THE VAN and HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2.

This week proves to be another slow release schedule with only one big film being released in Brad & Angelina Jolie-Pitt's film BY THE SEA but with STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS just over a week away, THE HUNGER GAMES needs to enjoy its time at the top whilst it lasts.

Check out our reviews of SPECTRE, THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY - PART 2 and CHRISTMAS WITH THE COOPERS.
