Black Souls gets a trailer
The story of a criminal family from the Southern Italian region of Calabria comes to life in critically acclaimed, gritty crime thriller BLACK SOULS, in cinemas, and VOD including Vertigo On Demand from Friday 30th October 2015.
Winner of Best Film and Best Director for Francesco Munzi at last year’s Venice Film Festival, BLACK SOULS is based on the novel Anime Nere and stars Marco Leonardi, Peppino Mazzotta, Fabrizio Ferracane and Giuseppe Fumo.
The film centres on three brothers; sons of shepherds, close to the lethal 'ndrangheta criminal organisation but on their own, dangerous mission. Luigi (Leonardi), the youngest, is an international drug trafficker; Rocco (Mazzotta), a seemingly ordinary, middle-class man, is an entrepreneur thanks to Luigi’s laundered money; while Luciano (Ferracane), the eldest, longs for times gone by in his native Calabria. When Leo (Fumo), Luciano’s angry, 20 year old son, starts a brawl in a local bar ‘owned’ by a rival gang, it triggers a chain of events that leads the three brothers down a path of blood and violence, with consequences that none of them could have foreseen.
A story which starts in Holland, passes through Milan and reaches Calabria, on the peaks of the Aspromonte, BLACK SOULS has the feel of a modern day Western; with revenge and the fight for family honour as the driving forces behind the violence that threatens to tear them apart.
