Is Margot Robbie Set For The Suicide Squad?
Collider are reporting that Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) has signed on to star in the Suicide Squad film for DC and Warner Bros. With the report stating that she has signed on to play the part of Harley Quinn. Quinn was made famous in Batman: The Animated Series, which aired during the 1990's, and became infamous for her on, then off, then on again relationship with the Joker.
Harley Quinn is one character who has not yet appeared on the big screen in any Batman or DC related film, and Robbie's performance would mark the first time the character has appeared outside of the comic books or various animated films and series. Her last appearance was in DC's animated effort Batman: Assault on Arkham, where she, coincidentally, was a part of the Suicide Squad. If Robbie is confirmed, she will be the first actress to be pinned down to a role in the David Ayer directed Suicide Squad. Other names that have been banded around are Will Smith, Tom Hardy and Ryan Reynolds.
Another interesting piece of info to come about, is that Jared Leto may be in talks to join the Suicide Squad also, with several websites saying he is in negotiations to play none other than the Joker. This would certainly be an interesting choice on DC's part, and would make a bold statement in their attempts to bring some integrity to their cinematic universe.
