Ghostbusters 3 Confirms New Writer
Director Paul Feig last night took to Twitter to confirm that he will be directing a new, female led, Ghostbusters film, and also confirmed writer Katie Dippold (The Heat), will be helping him bring a new team of Ghostbusters to the big screen.
The news comes as little surprise, with Dippold and Feig having previously worked together on another female led comedy caper, The Heat. Feig stepped in as director after Ivan Reitman walked away from proceedings following the death of original Ghostbuster Harold Ramis earlier this year.
As well as The Heat, Dippold has written episodes of MADtv and Parks and Recreation, and is also now working on a sequel to The Heat.
Another sequel in the Ghostbusters series has been in development ever since Ghostbusters II was released in 1989. Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd both attempted to bring the series back, but multiple attempts failed for one reason or another. These ranged from various script changes, to Bill Murray's reluctance to return as Peter Venkman and the untimely passing of Harold Ramis.
This time it does seem pretty official though, and it looks like a new team of Ghostbusters will be heading our way sometime in the near future. However, with both Feig and Dippold being busy people, no date has been given on when to expect the film to arrive in cinemas.
