Karl Urban Teases A Dredd Prequel
After its release in 2012, the Karl Urban led Dredd film has garnered a strong cult following, and there have been many requests and online petitions to get a sequel made. Unfortunately, despite being commended by critics and liked by the people who did see it, the bottom line is that it did not make enough money.
Dredd took a worldwide haul of $35.6 million, which are poor numbers in Hollywood these days. However, that has not stopped people talking up a possible sequel. The most recent of those coming from Dredd himself, Karl Urban. At the recent Chicago Comic-Con, Urban was asked about a sequel and had the following to say:
"Why yes, there is a definite possibility. But, it is more likely that we will do the origins story with Dredd trekking through the cursed earth to find the first Chief Judge Fargo."
Whether or not a sequel, or prequel, will happen anytime soon remains to be seen, but it would at least appear that someone somewhere is intent on making it happen.
