Wolverine director confirms sequel after X-Men: Apocalypse

James Mangold, director of The Wolverine has confirmed that a sequel to the 2013 superhero film will come after X-Men: Apocalypse, the third instalment in the prequel films.

Mangold confirmed that he will be directing the sequel but that it is still in early planning stages. It is unknown whether star Hugh Jackman will be returning for his eighth appearance as Wolverine, after reprising the role for the forthcoming release X-Men: Days of Future Past, which will be released on 22nd and 23rd May in UK and USA respectively.

X-Men: Apocalypse has a scheduled release of 27th May 2016.
