Ellen Page Comes Out on Valentine's Day
A Hollywood star coming out always seems to make people go bussing on social media, and now, Academy Award nominee Ellen Page, star of indie hit Juno and the forthcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, rejoined Hollywood society as an out and proud lesbian.
Page came out during a Human Rights Campaign event on Valentine's Day, stating that she is "tired of hiding and tired of lying by omission."
In other news, Page will play alongside Julianne Moore in the upcoming gay rights independent film Freeheld, which tells the real-life story of Stacie Andree and Laurel Hester, played by Page and Moore respectively. Hester is a terminally ill police detective who goes against the New Jersey government to transfer to pension benefits to Andree, her life partner. The film is based on Cynthia Wade's Academy Award documentary of the same name.
