TDF Film Podcast 19 - The Best Films of 2013

So we polled our readers and our contributors to find out what you thought were the best films of 2013 and here we give you the results and discuss them in our pod review of the year. John is in charge again but Rob Bayley and Matt Shingleton join him to explain why everyone loves Gravity, why Matthew McConnaughey has a career again and why our readers are just wrong (Matt can be contacted in the comments box below :)).

Here's the Soundcloud link...

You can also subscribe to the film pod right here. Or catch our TV pods reviewing the year here and our 50th anniversary Doctor Who pod over here.

So with no further nonsense, here are the results of our readers poll:

1. Gravity
2. The Place Beyond The Pines
3. Oblivion
4. Django Unchained
5. Mud
6. Zero Dark Thirty
7. Star Trek Into Darkness
8. Rush
9. Captain Phillips
10. Man Of Steel

Our contributors poll of polls, drum roll.....

1. Stoker
2. Gravity
3. A Field in England
4. Land of Hope
5. Only God Forgives
6. Like Someone In Love
7. Before Midnight
8. The Great Beauty
9. Star Trek Into Darkness
10=Passion
10=Alpha Papa

So only 2 films the same there - you seem to like blockbusters and we like artsy fartsy! A combined poll would have resulted in Gravity winning out overall, but thank God for elitism I say! If you go to the second page of this article, you'll see our contributors individual top 10s there.
