Lionsgate Announces 2014 Q1 Schedule

Lionsgate have announced their slate for the first three months of 2014.


Kevin Hart: Let me Explain captures the laughter, energy and mayhem from Hart's 2012 Let Me Explain" concert tour, which spanned 10 countries and 80 cities - and was one of the most successful comedy tours of all time.

A lively reunion is abruptly brought to an end when a gang of mysterious killers, disguised in animal masks, wage an all-out assault on the Davison’s secluded home. Using a series of sophisticated traps, axes, crossbows and machetes, the family are slaughtered one by one until nowhere is safe. But neither the attackers, nor their victims, have counted on Erin (Sharni Vinson, Step Up 3D); an innocent girlfriend who has the killer instinct to fight back…

Psychological thriller, Peacock, follows the story of John Skillpa (Cillian Murphy; TVs Peaky Blinders), a quiet bank clerk living in a small town in Nebraska, who appears to have a perfectly ordinary life. However, John has a secret which is threatening to be discovered. Suffering from multiple personality disorder, John disguises one half of his personality under the character of “Emma”, a woman who cooks and cleans for him every morning. One day, a freight train derails and crashes into his back garden, unleashing a whirlwind of events as John’s alter ego is discovered and he must invent a story involving a secret marriage in order to maintain his secret. Young, single mother, Maggie (Ellen Page; Juno), holds the key to John’s past, and sparks a battle between the two personalities as Emma begins to take over John’s life completely. Susan Sarandon (Cloud Atlas) also stars.


Kristen Wiig, Annette Bening and Matt Dillon headline in Girl Most Likely, a hilarious comedy about a washed-up playwright who, after faking her own suicide as a ploy to get her ex-boyfriend's attention, winds up remanded to the custody of her wackily dysfunctional family.

Join Dixie and friends on a spooky adventure to a magical world of Witches, Pirates and Mummies. It’s not every day that you’re transformed into a Zombie, but that’s exactly what happens to Dixie. Finding herself in a strange new world, she must befriend Isis (an Egyptian mummy princess) and Gonner (a pirate cabin boy) and defeat the evil witch, Nubulosa, so that she can find her way home.

This thrill-a-minute action, laugh-out-loud comedy is sure to make a splash.

Scheming Bruce Robertson (James McAvoy), a bigoted and corrupt policeman, is in line for a promotion and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Enlisted to solve a brutal murder and threatened by the aspirations of his colleagues, including Ray Lennox (Jamie Bell), Bruce sets about ensuring their ruin, right under the nose of unwitting Chief Inspector Toal. The question is: can he keep his grip on reality long enough to disentangle himself from the filth? James McAvoy gives the performance of his career and he is joined by a fantastic cast, also including Imogen Poots, Jim Broadbent, Shirley Henderson and Eddie Marsan. Based on the novel by Irvine Welsh, Filth is written by Jon S. Baird who also produces and directs.

Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent Machete in a hilarious and action packed new adventure. Machete is recruited by the President of the United States (Carlos Estevez aka Charlie Sheen) for a mission to take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer (played by Mel Gibson) who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet. The talented and eclectic cast includes: Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Carlos Estevez, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Mel Gibson. Machete Kills is directed by Robert Rodriguez

The chilling true story of the Wyrick family. It’s 1993, the Wyrick family - Lisa, Andy and their young daughter Heidi, move to a modest home in the country. Upon moving into their new home, Lisa begins experiencing disturbing visions and soon, young Heidi apparently begins experiencing them too. It appears that the 'curse' that afflicts the women in the family has started for Heidi too. Lisa is frantic, hoping to shield Heidi from this fate. Do the phenomena hint at the onset of a shared family madness, or are they clues to a real-life nightmare that once took place on the property?

Chris’ life is then turned upside down as he struggles to escape from NYPD agent James Ransone (Dwayne Johnson), who is attempting to find evidence against him, and local crime bosses, both of which are hot on his trail.

I Am Soldier follows Mickey (Tom Hughes, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll) taking on the most dangerous military training known to man: SAS selection. The Special Air Service is the UK’s most renowned Special Forces regiment, tasked with missions in some of the most dangerous and hostile locations on the planet. Mickey is smashed by the grueling selection process- physically, mentally and emotionally. Based on the acclaimed Chuck Logan novel of the same name, Homefront stars James Franco in the role of drug meth lord Gator Bodine and Jason Statham as Phil Broker, a former DEA agent who retreats with his family to a quiet town in order to escape his unhappy past. Supported by an all-star cast including Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth and Rachelle Lefevre (White House Down, The Twilight Saga), Homefront is adapted for the screen by the legendary Sylvester Stallone and is the directed by Gary Fleder.

A stunning portrayal of a 17 year old girls’ journey of sexual discovery, Francois Ozon’s coming-of-age story Jeune et Jolie features a star-making performance by newcomer Marine Vacth in the lead role. The film screened in Competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival and received its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival in October. Isabelle (Marine Vacth) is on summer vacation in the South of France when she takes up a desultory relationship with Felix (Lucas Prisor), a hunky German tourist. We next meet Isabelle back in Paris, where we discover that she's set up a website to accept appointments from “johns” she will meet for sex in chic hotel rooms. Presented over the course of four seasons, the mood of each characterized by a distinctive song, Ozon's film provides an unprejudiced glimpse into the adolescent female psyche.

The sequel to the worldwide phenomenon, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is directed by Francis Lawrence, and based on the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy.
