Elstree Story in July

Network Distributing have announced the latest addition to their ‘The British Film’ collection, ELSTREE STORY, which will be released onto DVD on July 8th. From the press release…

Rarely-seen documentary ELSTREE STORY profiles the legendary film studio, the pictures made there and the stars and technicians who helped make it one of Europe’s greatest film production centres. Oscar-nominee Richard Todd introduces this fascinating documentary from 1952.

Starting in 1927 when the first film, The White Sheik, was made there, ELSTREE STORY features excerpts from over 40 productions – including Hitchcock’s Blackmail, the first feature-length British talkie ever shown – with early appearances by some of cinema’s greatest stars.

Featured here in a brand-new transfer from original film elements ELSTREE STORY is showcased in its as-exhibited theatrical aspect ratio.

(The 12 certificate is owing to ‘a scene of hanging’ according to the BBFC’s website.)
