Fassbender Is Frank With Us
It’s safe to say that the past efforts of Michael Fassbender have been somewhat of a mixed bag, and whilst not all his projects have done well, he’s still managed to walk away unscathed. The reason behind this is quite simple - he’s Michael Fassbender and he’s flippin’ brilliant. From Peter O’Toole imitating androids, to tortured sex-addicts, to masters of magnetism, Fassbender has found his way in audiences' good books and stayed there. Now news is out that he’s going into fresh territory having signed up for upcoming comedy, Frank.
Variety confirmed that Fassbender will be taking the titular role of Frank, the unashamedly eccentric frontman of a rock band that causes trouble for an up and coming talent (played by Domhnall Gleeson), who joins their group. Comedy ensues, sex is had, drugs may be taken and of course rocks begin to roll. Great stuff.
The directing duties have fallen to Lenny Abrahamson with the script being penned by Jon Ronson, (who wrote the book The Men Who Stare At Goats) and Peter Straughan (who adapted it for the big screen).
There’s no further details on Frank in terms of release but expect it to be squeezed in amongst the other bajillion projects Fassbender has lined up. Having only just finished 12 Years A Slave, he’s now filming Ridley Scott’s The Counselor. After that there’s a sequel to X-Men: First Class as well as an adaptation of Assassin’s Creed on the cards as well. See, told you - brilliant.
