New Poster For The Last Stand

We know, we know. Technically veteran henchman exterminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger will be shooting up cinema screens this week in The Expendables 2 but it’s The Last Stand that’ll have the hero that time forgot returning for a solo gig and today a brand new poster for it has appeared from a cloud of smoke. Seriously, there’s smoke everywhere.

Presented courtesy of the muscular mob at IGN there’s not a lot on show albeit for the necessary ingredients that make us sit up and make us give out a child-like ‘oooh’ and ‘aaah’. Dressed in traditional small-town sheriff duds, Arnie looks to be rather annoyed for some reason or another. Maybe it’s the coffee stain on his previously untouched trousers, perhaps it’s the cheeky good for nothing that’s parked their sports car in his spot behind him. Or maybe, just maybe it’s the cold-blooded drug kingpin and his band of gangsters that intend to tear through his town in an effort to escape the law. Yep, probably the last one.

Set for release in January next year, Schwarzenegger plays Sheriff Owens, leading lawman in the quiet town of Sommerton Junction. Still carrying the guilt of a failed operation during his career in the LAPD, Owens simply wants to be left alone to do a job that doesn’t require much. Unfortunately that goes clean out the window when a drug lord on the run driving a specially fitted motor and a hostage in the passengers seat is headed straight for Sommerton Junction, thus giving Owens no choice but to make, wait for it....The Last Stand (genius) to slow him down however he can.

Directed by Kim Wee-Joon (whose credits consist of I Saw The Devil, A Bittersweet Life and The Good, The Bad, The Weird) this doesn’t look like Arnie’s big return to action won’t be without it’s equally impressive supporting talent either. Joining the ex-governor of California will be Zach Gilford, Forest Whitaker, Luis Guzman, Rodrigo Santoro, Johnny Knoxville, Jaimie Alexander, Eduardo Noriega, Peter Stormare, Harry Dean Stanton and Genesis Rodriguez.

Expect a trailer in the coming weeks but in the meantime what do you make of the poster? Is it good to see Arnie taking centre stage again? Sound off below.
