Just announced by Warner is another film featuring Robert De Niro, This Boys Life. Arriving 21st July 2003 with a retail price of £12.99 the film is probably better known for the fine performance from a young Leonardo DiCaprio that took him from obscurity and into the public eye. Presented in 2.35:1 Widescreen (Anamorphic Enhancement is not confirmed, but seems likely) with English DD2.0 Stereo sound you will also find a Theatrical Trailer on this otherwise barebones disc.

Here is a look at the DVD artwork and the accompanying text from the Press Release.

The film that ignited the rise and rise of Leonardo DiCaprio comes to DVD on 21 July 2003 when Warner Home Video release This Boy's Life. Also starring Robert De Niro, this true-life story of the struggle between a despotic stepfather and his misfit stepson is available to buy on DVD for just £12.99 RRP.

It's hard to believe that there was a time when no-one had heard of Leo DiCaprio (Romeo & Juliet, Titanic, Gangs of New York) but his performance in This Boy's Life marked his coming of age as an actor of talent and maturity far above his seventeen years.

Faced with the daunting prospect of playing a lead role opposite Hollywood legend Robert De Niro (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas) DiCaprio produced a performance that Rolling Stone Magazine described as "fresh and sharply intuitive" and which many critics agreed even outshone that of De Niro.

SYNOPSIS
Nomadic single mother Caroline (Ellen Barkin) just wants to settle down, find a decent guy and provide a better home for her difficult son Toby (DiCaprio). Eventually settling in Seattle, she meets Dwight (De Niro) a respectable, polite garage mechanic with children of his own who fulfils all her criteria for a stable family life.

Toby soon learns that Dwight's outward appearance is deceptive when Caroline departs, leaving Toby helpless against his perspective stepfather's bullying, dominating personality which manifests itself in increasing levels of verbal, emotional and then physical abuse.

Caroline finds Toby's account hard to believe, instead blaming his tearaway nature and hoping that Dwight can mould him into a more responsible adult.

The marriage proceeds and Caroline soon realises that Toby was right: several years of dysfunctional family life ensue, with Toby putting up with it for his mother's sake and Caroline hoping that the benefits of family life for Toby outweigh the problems caused by Dwight's oppressive tyranny. As they struggle to maintain hope in an impossible situation, Toby grows up and comes to realise he must escape by any means possible.
