Charlie Chaplin DVD/BD sets in October

Park Circus have announced the UK Dual Format Edition release of two Charlie Chaplin films on 25th October 2010. City Lights and The Circus are released as dual format (DVD and Blu-ray) sets alongside the DVD only release of The Chaplin Revue, a collection of his short films.

City Lights - This 1931 silent comedy drama from Charles Chaplin sees The Tramp fall in love with a beautiful, blind flower girl, whose family is in financial trouble. When he learns that an operation may restore the girl’s sight, he sets off to earn the money she needs to have surgery. The Tramp's friendship with a wealthy man allows him to be the girl's benefactor and suitor but will she love him even when she discovers that he is not a wealthy duke, but a tramp? This dual-format release features the film newly restored in High Definition. Features include:

The Circus - Recognising his genius, Charles Chaplin won a special Academy Award for acting, writing, producing and directing The Circus. In this silent comedy, The Tramp finds himself at a circus, where he promptly gets chased by the police, who think he is a pickpocket. Running into the big top, The Tramp is an accidental sensation with his hilarious efforts to elude the police and immediately gets hired by the ringmaster. This Dual Format Edition features the film newly and beautifully restored in High Definition. Features include:

The Chaplin Revue - Three classic silent comedies from Charles Chaplin - A Dog's Life (1918), Shoulder Arms (1918) and The Pilgrim (1923) are here strung together to form a single feature length film with new music, narration and connecting material.

In A Dog's Life, The Tramp and his dog companion try to survive in the city. Shoulder Arms features Chaplin as a boot camp private who has a dream of being a hero, and in The Pilgrim, he becomes the new minister for the town of Devil's Gulch by mistake.

This 2-disc DVD edition features a restored version of the film along with a host of extras – including the full length original versions of the three shorts. Features are outlined below…
