Anime releases this week from MVM include complete collection box-set releases of Ah! My Goddess, Burst Angel, Samurai Champloo and Texhnolyze. RRP is £39.99 each. Also this week from Manga Entertainment is Bleach: The Movie 2 – The Diamond Dust Rebellion (Features include: Making Bleach The Movie 2; production art gallery; original Japanese promos; trailers; English 5.1 and Japanese 5.1 (with English subtitles) audio options) and Ah! My Goddess Series 2 Part 3 (includes the final 8 episodes over 2 discs).
After.Life - Anchor Bay – DVD and Blu-ray – This psychological thriller is set in a funeral parlor where nothing is as it seems. The film stars Christina Ricci, Liam Neeson and Justin Long. Extras include audio commentary with Co-Writer/Director Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Voslo, a making-of and the original trailer.
Bent - Park Circus – Dual Format Edition (includes DVD & Blu-ray) - Set amidst the decadence and terror of pre-war Fascist Germany, Sean Mathias’s film is above all a powerful and moving love story. Recounting the fate of three homosexual men during the rise of Nazism, the film is a harrowing but inspirational tale of struggle against oppression. This Dual Format Edition (Blu-ray and DVD) features the film restored in HD along with extras including the trailer, interviews with Sean Mathias, Martin Sherman, Clive Owen, Lothaire Bluteau, Ian McKellen and Mick Jagger, on set footage and a Music Video for Streets of Berlin performed by Mick Jagger.
Beyond Silence - Arrow Films - Oscar nominated family drama Beyond Silence tells the story of a family with deaf parents whose dependence on their daughter is threatened when she develops a gift for music.
Black Lightning - Universal Pictures – DVD and Blu-ray – This Russian action movie is about a crime fighter armed with a flying car. Extras include a making of and deleted scenes.
Blitz on Britain - Optimum – This 60s documentary with rare footage of the Blitz has been restored and is on DVD for the first time.
Caught in the Crossfire - Metrodome – Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson stars as an underworld informant in this crime drama. Extras include outtakes and the original trailer.
Defendor - Sony - Arthur Poppington (Woody Harrelson) doesn't need superpowers or fancy toys to fight crime. Armed only with a childlike sense of wonder and his quirky arsenal of cheap, homemade gadgets, he becomes DEFENDOR! Features include:

Hunter Prey - Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment – This sci-fi film is the first feature film from Sandy Collora, director of short film and internet sensation Batman: Dead End. Extras include director’s commentary and a behind-the-scenes featurette.
Leverage Season 1 - Icon Home Entertainment – Timothy Hutton and British actress Gina Bellman star in this US crime drama series. All 13 episodes are included on this four-disc set.
Mr. Bean Live Action TV Series - Remastered - Universal Pictures – To celebrate the character’s 20th birthday Universal have digitally remastered the live-action TV series and will release all 4 series on the same day. They’re also re-releasing the movies and animated series.
Scandal - Icon Home Entertainment - In 1963, the conservative British government was shaken to its foundations by the Profumo Scandal. The central character in this disastrous affair was John Profumo, Britain's minister of war, who had become sexually involved with call-girl Christine Keeler, whose 'sponsor' was high-priced osteopath Dr. Stephen Ward. Fancying himself a dashing international adventurer, Ward had also offered Christine to alleged Soviet spy Eugene Ivanov. Another of Ward's stable, Mandy Rice-Davies, allegedly had slept with numerous British and American luminaries. The whole sordid story, which ended with Ward's suicide and Profumo's public disgrace, was recounted with relish in director Michael Caton-Jones's SCANDAL, which featured John Hurt as Stephen Ward, Joanne Whalley-Kilmer as Christine Keeler, Ian McKellan as Profumo, Bridget Fonda as Mandy Rice-Davies, and Jeroen Krabbe as Ivanov. Extras include commentary with director Michael Caton Jones, commentary with producer Stephen Woolley and writer Michael Thomas, World in Action documentary about Ivanov the Russian Naval Attache/alleged spy, and ‘The Minister, The Model & The Russian Spy’ documentary.
Sliding Doors - Arrow Films - Gwyneth Paltrow stars in this romantic comedy which balances on the split second chances of romance in London.
The Smurfs Season 2 - Arrow Films / Fabulous Films – All 24 episodes are included along with ‘I Smurf The Smurfs’ A 17 minute documentary on the Smurfs, Character and Crew Biographies, Episode Synopses, Collector’s Edition O-Ring Packaging, On Screen Character Guide, Character Guide Booklet and Episode Guide Booklet.
Splintered - Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment - Troubled teen Sophie drags her friends deep into the Welsh Forests in search of a local legend - a dangerous wild beast: half animal and half human that uses its cunning and strength to brutally kill for pleasure. Valentino: The Last Emperor - Optimum - Directed by Matt Tyrnauer, VALENTINO is a feature-length movie that takes the viewer inside the singular world of one of Italy’s most famous designers, Valentino Garavani. Army of the Dead - Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment – An archeology professor and his students unwittingly wake a long dormant curse and are confronted by a militia of skeleton warriors in this fantasy action adventure.
Beyond the Rave - 4DVD - Directed by Matthias Hoene, the first Hammer Films production in 20 years is this horror-thriller vampire series with lashings of gore set in England’s dark and sexy underground rave scene. Cherry Tree Lane - In this horror an ordinary British family face their worst fears when their normal, everyday lives are destroyed, piece by brutal piece, by a group of vicious youths who subject them to a vicious barrage of humiliation and violence. Dogtooth - Verve Pictures – DVD and Blu-ray – Yorgos Lanthimos’s film is a comic insight into a surreal world of parental control gone mad. Three teenagers are grounded in an alternate world by their overprotective parents, when a female outsider bursts into their bizarre family bubble, with shocking and strangely amusing results.
The Frantisek Vlacil Collection - Second Run DVD – This 4-disc set includes three films from the Czech director – Marketa Lazarova, The Valley of the Bees and Adelheid – plus exclusive to the box-set, Tomas Hejtmanek’s intimate documentary portrait of Vlacil – Sentiment.

Kandahar Break: Fortress of War - Revolver Entertainment – DVD and Blu-ray - A team of British mine clearance engineers, including Richard Lee (Shaun Dooley - Salvage, Eden Lake) and Steve Delamore (Dean Andrews - Ashes to Ashes) are working for the Taliban Government to clear mine in the scorching deserts of Southern Afghanistan. Los Olvidados – 60th Anniversary Edition - 3DD Home Entertainment - It is now 60 years since Luis Buñuel’s visceral depiction of life in Mexico’s slums stunned audiences at the Cannes Film Festival in 1951, winning Best Director and relaunching the filmmaker’s career after a twenty-year hiatus. This new DVD release includes a specially commissioned interview with internationally renowned film critic, Derek Malcolm.
Plan B - Network Releasing – Argentinean comedy drama from Marco Berger.
Rapt - Chelsea Films - An updated (to the present day) adaptation of the real-life 1978 kidnapping of French-Belgian industrialist and millionaire playboy Edouard-Jean Empain, Rapt is written and directed by Belgian-born director Lucas Belvaux and stars Yvan Attal and Anne Consigny.
RIN – Daughters of Mnemosyne - Manga – Spanning a period of sixty-five years, from 1990 Tokyo to 2055 Kyoto, RIN – Daughters Of Mnemosyne tells the epic, erotic, nightmarish story of Rin’s search to unravel the secrets of her endless life and her endless agony as her physical form is repeatedly pierced, torn apart and reduced to a bloody pulp by those eager to inflict pain upon her and devour her memories. The Scarlet Pimpernel - Stax Entertainment – This four-disc set of the BBC drama series includes the complete series 1 & 2 presented as 12 one-hour episodes as broadcast on BBC1.
Sweet Karma - Anchor Bay - Directed by first-time feature director Andrew Thomas Hunt and starring Canadian-born model Shera Bechard in her acting debut, Sweet Karma tells the fictional story of a young, mute Russian woman who turns scantily-clad vigilante to avenge the apparent abuse and murder of her sister at the hands of a ruthless gang of Russian mobsters.
Unthinkable - E1 Entertainment – DVD and Blu-ray - Somewhere in the United States three nuclear bombs are about to detonate – and only one man knows where they are. With the terrorist (Michael Sheen) already captured, FBI agent Brody (Carrie-Anne Moss) and ruthless former black-ops interrogator H (Samuel L. Jackson) start a race against time to get the information they need. With the clock ticking, Brody and H have to decide how far they will go to save millions of lives in this action-packed thriller that will take you to the brink and beyond. The only extra is a director’s commentary.

A Bouquet of Barbed Wire - ITV - This three-part drama is a modern reworking of Andrea Newman’s tale which depicts a father’s obsessive love for his daughter and how secrets once buried return to haunt their lives.

Last Night - Park Circus - What if there was no tomorrow? What if you knew the world was coming to an end? How – and with whom – would you spend your last hours on earth? These are the questions facing a number of very different individuals ahead of the millennium in this drama. Extras include a gallery and trailer.
The Legend is Born: Ip Man - Metrodome – This film tells the true story of the early life of Ip Man, the formidable kung fu genius who would become Bruce Lee’s mentor. Beginning at the start of his journey from his initial training through to the ultimate battle to become supreme master of the art of Wing Chun – culminating in a stunning blindfolded duel between action superstars Sammo Hung (Enter The Dragon) and Yuen Biao. Mega Shark in Malibu - Metrodome - The peaceful Malibu seas are about to turn blood red when an undersea tremor releases six bone-armoured goblin sharks from their subterranean prison.
The Special Relationship - Optimum – DVD & Blu-ray - Written by Peter Morgan, it sees Michael Sheen reprise his role as Tony Blair for the third time, in a dramatisation exploring his relationships with Bill Clinton and George W Bush. Extras include trailers, interviews and B-Roll footage.
Tears for Sale - Icon Home Entertainment – This allegorical fantasy fable from Serbian director Uros Stojanovic focuses on the story of two sisters that grew up in a small Serbian village in the beginning of the 1930s.
Tooth Fairy - Fox Home Entertainment – DVD and Blu-ray - Dwayne Johnson stars as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging minor league hockey player whose nickname comes from his ability to knock out other players’ teeth. After discouraging a youngster’s hopes, he is ordered to one week’s hard labor as the real Tooth Fairy, complete with the requisite tutu, wings and magic wand. At first he “can’t handle the tooth,” but eventually learns how to adapt to his new position and finds himself rediscovering his own forgotten dreams. The DVD release includes a Digital Copy, Fairyoke (featurette) and Gag Reel. The Triple Play Blu-ray release (includes BD, DVD and Digital Copy) offers more extras including Introduction and audio commentary by Director Michael Lembeck, Tooth fairy training centre, Fairyoke (featurette), Gag Reel, Deleted Scenes and behind the scenes clips.

24 City - New Wave Films – Shot in Chengdu, China, before the earthquake, this film from Jia Zhang Ke (Still Life) chronicles the dramatic fall of a State-owned munitions factory and its conversion into a luxury high-rise apartment complex. Features include optional 5.1 audio, trailer, an interview with the director by film critic Scott Foundas and a short film by the director – ‘Cry Me A River’.
Anna Karenina - Simply Media - The BBC’s 1961 adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s romantic masterpiece starring Sean Connery and Claire Bloom.
The Big Bang Theory Season 3 - Warner Home Video – Extras are TBC on Season 3 of this sitcom.
Blood Snow - Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment - A weekend away turns bad when a furious snowstorm traps a group of friends in an isolated cabin high up Donner Mountain – a notorious peak named after a massacre that took place there some 150 years ago. As the snow rolls in and the sea of white consumes everything before them, they start to see strange apparitions. But is it just cabin fever playing tricks on their minds, or something altogether more sinister?
Dead Cert - Momentum Pictures - The second feature from British director Steve Lawson (Just For The Record) is this vampires-meet-gangsters horror romp. Extras include audio commentary and a making of featurette.
Dead Long Enough - Bluebell Films – This British comedy tells the story of a depressed and downhearted Welsh lawyer living in the shadow of his larger than life, womanising TV celebrity brother.
Deadly Impact - Fox - Joe Pantoliano, Sean Patrick Flanery and Carmen Serrano star in this action thriller.
Good Hair - Icon Home Entertainment – This comedy written, produced and narrated by Chris Rock also includes a commentary by Chris Rock.
Grand Designs Series 7 - Fremantle Home Entertainment - This Double DVD features seven couples bravely embarking on the adventure of a lifetime – building their own dream homes.
IVUL - Artificial Eye – Directed by British artist Andrew Kötting, Ivul tells the tale of Alex, who bizarrely moves out onto the roof of his house and refuses to come down after a false abuse accusation. From there, he watches the family he loves, but can't live with, as it destroys itself from the inside out. A 2-disc SE, features include:

Married With Children: Season 4 - Sony - Sony – Season 4 of this sitcom starring Ed O’Neill and Katey Sagal. Episodes are presented in 4:3 with English and Hungarian DD2.0 Stereo, French and German DD1.0 Mono and you get Dutch, English, English SDH, French, German and Hungarian subtitles.
My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done - Scanbox Entertainment - Inspired by true events, this film directed by Werner Herzog tells the peculiar story of Brad Macallum (Shannon), an aspiring actor who commits, in reality, the crime he is to enact in a Greek tragedy in which he is performing. Features include: audio commentary by director Werner Herzog, producer Eric Bassett and screenwriter Herbert Golder; interview with Werner Herzog including behind-the-scenes footage.
Our Friends in the North - Simply Media - Daniel Craig, Gina McKee, Christopher Eccleston and Mark Strong star in this acclaimed BBC drama following the turbulent lives of four friends from Newcastle across three decades. Packed into an attractive digi-pack and slipcase, this three-disc set also includes a 20 page booklet.
The Pacific Battleship Yamato - Metrodome - World War II action film set aboard the infamous Battleship Yamato, the most fearsome ship in the Pacific fleet and the largest ever built for combat. Directed by Junya Sato and based on a book by Jun Henmi with a framing story set in the present day and through the use of flashbacks, Yamato tells the story of the crew of a WWII battleship, concentrating on the ship's demise during Operation Ten-Go.
Shooting Robert King - Trinity Filmed Entertainment – Robert King, a naïve 24-year old budding war photographer sets out to become the youngest ever Pulitzer Prize winner for his photojournalism. In this film Robert King resembles a heroic misfit straight out of the pages of Evelyn Waugh s Scoop , thrown into the heart of battle, struggling to adapt to the brutal environment he finds himself in. Occasionally comic, often touching, more often dark, Shooting Robert King is a unique and personal journey, filmed over 15 years and across three warzones. Over an hour of extras include a 'Making Of', a featurette ('Riding Shotgun with the King') and a stills gallery of Robert King's work.
Space Chimps 2: Zartog Strikes Back - EIV – DVD and Blu-ray – Both formats will include 2D and 3D presentations of the film. Extras are TBC.
Twelve - Chelsea Films - A young waitress along with eleven other citizens listen to the evidence against Leonard Karlsson ( a man accused of a crime against a minor) and found him guilty. In prison the "unspoken rule" regarding such crimes was enforced - Karlsson was beaten by the other prisoners within an inch of his life, his face severely disfigured as a result. Now out of prison he returns to the town of his trial. In one horrifying night, he once again faces to twelve jurors who decided his fate. This time, however, he decides theirs...Extras include audio commentary, trailer, a making-of, a special effects breakdown featurette and a Make Up FX Gallery.
Videocracy - Dogwoof - Silvio Berlusconi is the most powerful man in Italy, wielding authority and influence across the media, where he controls 90 per cent of television, and in politics, where he is prime minister. He even owns one of the country's biggest football teams, AC Milan. Described by Time Out New York as a "Fellini-esque nightmare", Italian born director Erik Gandini's Videocracy portrays from the inside the consequences of the twisted connection of politics and junk culture that informs Italy.

Wetherby - Park Circus - A lonely Yorkshire schoolteacher, Jean Travers (Vanessa Redgrave), hosts a dinner party for her friends at her cottage in Wetherby however events take a dramatic turn when an uninvited guest suddenly commits suicide in front of Jean. The only extra is a stills gallery.
