Totally Awesome in August

Paramount Home Entertainment have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of Totally Awesome on 13th August 2007 priced at £12.99. Paramount and VH1 Films present this retro comedy from the co-creator of “Chappelle’s Show” and one of the writers of “The Office.” Taking you back to when the pink was pretty and the dancing was dirty!

Originally produced in the 1980s but never released in the UK until now, Totally Awesome features a young and dynamic cast paying homage to everyone’s favourite 80s movies. Totally Awesome is a fun, fantastic film following the trials and tribulations of lovelorn Charlie, determined dancer Lori and their adventures in their new town.

The story follows handsome new kid Charlie played by Mikey Day, who is immediately named as the least popular guy in the senior class by his new school’s “coolness rankings”. He soon befriends his female counterpart Billie played by Nicki Clyne (Battlestar Gallactica), who shows him the ropes and provides an enlightening crash course in the clique system.

Despite making a new friend, Charlie falls for the charms of high school babe Kimberly played by Brittany Daniel (Dawson’s Creek), notably the most popular girl in school. Thinking his only chance to win Kimberly, is to one-up her jock boyfriend Kipp, Charlie decides to enter the school decathlon and begins training with an elderly Japanese gardener Yamagashi played by James Hong (Jackie Chan Adventures).

Meanwhile Charlie’s dancer sister Lori played by Dominique Swain (Lolita), is surprised to discover that dancing has been banned in her new town. She meets school janitor and former dance teacher Gabriel who invites her to attend secret dance group sessions in his garage. After just a few dances, love beckons between the two and together Lori and Gabriel hatch a cunning plan to bring dancing back to the school.
