From the PR:
From the corrupt minds that brought you American Psycho (Brett Easton-Ellis) and Pulp Fiction (Roger Avary) comes The Rules of Attraction, a razor sharp, sordid movie about sex, drugs and hedonism on an American College Campus.
James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek), Ian Somerhalder (Changing Hearts) and Shannyn Sossamon (A Knight’s Tale) star in this scathingly insightful satire on life and love among the young and privileged. This is the domain of Camden College, a small, affluent liberal arts college somewhere in New England. With endless rounds of drug, alcohol and sex drenched campus parties, attended by sparsely dressed Camden students, life is one big drug-induced trip. But human nature determines that in a highly imperfect world, the rules of attraction always apply…and among the co-eds at Camden College, the first rule is – there are no rules.
Hauntingly honest yet wickedly witty, The Rules of Attraction is a must to own or rent on DVD or video.
JAMES VAN DER BEEK (Sean Bateman) is best known as Dawson Leery in the hit US teen drama, Dawson’s Creek. Indeed, his role as the vicious Sean Bateman is his first film lead, and represents a far cry from the mild manner of Dawson whilst also earning him glowing reviews. Already an established name on the small screen, Van der Beek is set to make it just as big in the movies as he embarks on his second lead role in the soon to be released, Standing Still.
IAN SOMERHALDER (Paul Denton) was a successful model before turning to acting and his good looks and screen presence are set to make him a huge star. He is soon to build upon the success of Changing Hearts and The Rules of Attraction with his role in U-Boat alongside William H. Macy.
SHANNYN SOSSAMAN (Lauren Hynde) is another rising star. Discovered whilst DJ-ing at Gwyneth Paltrow’s birthday party, Sossaman went on to star in A Knight’s Tale and 40 Days and 40 Nights.
Director, ROGER AVARY needs little introduction. As the man that penned the stories for Pulp Fiction, the barometer of movie cool, his place in Hollywood history is secure. He is set to team up with award winning author BRETT EASTON-ELLIS again on the upcoming Glamorama.
