ADV Films releases for this month

ADV Films have kindly sent through details on their UK Region 2 line-up for January 2004. They have seven new DVD releases scheduled to arrive on 19th January, each carrying a retail price of £19.99...

King of Bandit Jing: Volume One - Directed by Hiroshi Watanabe (Orphen, Kiki's Delivery Service) King of Bandit Jing is based upon a manga of the same title by Yuchi Kumakura, detailing the adventures of Jing, a youthful and charming Robin Hood-esque bandit who travels from town to town, stealing valuables and hearts in equal measure. Along for the ride is his randy wiseacre albatross companion, Kir, who is constantly getting the pair into difficulties.

The DVD features four episodes with both the original Japanese language and English dub audio tracks alongside optional English subtitles. Extras include a printed insert; production sketches; clean opening and closing animation; and ADV previews.

Gamera; Attack of Legion is ADV Films first live-action movie release here in the UK. Popularized in Japan in a series of films in the 1960s, Gamera was brought back in the 1990s, combining the heart of the original titles with new actors, new plots and cutting-edge special effects. Gamera: Attack of Legion was directed by Shusuke Kaneko, from a screenplay by Kazunori Ito, screenwriter of the legendary anime film Ghost in the Shell, with special effects by Shinji Higuchi.

The DVD includes both the original Japanese language and English dub audio tracks alongside optional English subtitles. Extras include: an interview with the director; Gamera press conference; original Japanese theatrical trailers; original Japanese TV spots; behind-the-scenes in Japan; Gamera promotional events; opening night in Japan; Lake Texarkana Gamera and ADV Previews.


The remainding titles for release in January include the latest volumes for two anime series and the final volumes in three others...

NOIR: Terminal Velocity - The fifth volume of this slick thriller offers three episodes with both the original Japanese language and English dub audio tracks alongside optional English subtitles. Extras include an interview with Kotono Mitsuishi, production sketches, clean opening and closing animation, original Japanese promo spots and ADV previews.

Excel Saga: Secrets and Lies! - The fifth volume of this wacky comedy series offers four episodes with both the original Japanese language and English dub audio tracks alongside optional English subtitles. Extras include: a Daitenzin promo; an interview with Koshi Rikdo, author of the original manga; a Puni Puni Poemi conversation with Director Shinichi Watanabe; an interview with the Puni Puni Poemi Staff; Puni Puni Poemi character designs; production sketches, and ADV Previews.

Neon Genesis Evangelion – Collection 0:8 - The eighth and final DVD of the series features the last three episodes with both the original Japanese language and English dub audio tracks alongside optional English subtitles. Extras include clean opening and closing animations; character profiles; and ADV previews.

Hellsing: Eternal Damnation - The fourth and final DVD of the series features the last three episodes with both the original Japanese language and English dub audio tracks alongside optional English subtitles. Extras include: staff interview, creditless ending, concept art collection and ADV Previews.

Dai-Guard: The Bottom Line - The sixth and final DVD of the series features the last five episodes with both the original Japanese language and English dub audio tracks alongside optional English subtitles. Extras include production sketches; clean opening animation, clean closing animation and ADV previews.
