2001 Maniacs (R2) in October

Momentum Pictures have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of 2001 Maniacs for 23rd October 2006 priced at £15.99. Directed by Tom Sullivan 2001 Maniacs is a “re-imagining” of the 1964 Hershchell Gordon Lewis classic Two Thousand Maniacs. Completely and unashamedly un-PC the film follows a group of good looking teenage Americans who follow a bogus detour sign and arrive in the town of Pleasant Valley, whose residents are hard at work preparing for the weekend ‘Guts and Glory’ Jubilee. The lost travellers are declared the ‘guests of honour’ by the one-eyed Mayor Buckman, played by Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street). The teenagers soon realise that they have become the star attraction of the Jubilee banquet and must fight if they are to get out of Pleasant Valley alive.
