Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey in August

Momentum Pictures have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey for 7th August 2006 priced at £19.99. Our host on this journey is 30-year-old Sam Dunn, a lifelong Metal fan and Anthropology scholar. After years of studying various global cultures Sam decided turn his academic eye to the culture of Metal. His mission: to explore the musical roots of Metal from classical to jazz to blues, delve into the psyche of those who make it and those who love it, understand why it is demonised and marginalised and the never-ending controversy that surrounds it. On the way Sam answers some of the most enduring Heavy Metal puzzles: who invented the famed devil horns, what is the Devil’s note and why is it called Heavy Metal?

Along the way there are interviews and insights from the Pantheon of Metal Gods including Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, Dee Snider, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie James Dio, Lemmy and many, many more.

Packaged in a special, limited edition, “Heavy Metal” case features include:

  • Exclusive Podcast
  • Making of Featurette
