The King in September

Tartan Video have announced the UK DVD release of The King for 25th September 2006 priced at £19.99. Returning to civilian life after completed service in US army, Elvis has decided to go find the father he never knew. His father, David, is now a pastor with a happy family. He has no desire for his sinful past to come back and haunt him. However, Elvis seduces his own half-sister, Malerie, who falls in love with him and has a major altercation with her brother Paul. His murderous behaviour brings the bad fruit into David’s enforced Paradise as Elvis attempts to build a new kingdom based on his own amoral codes. But is Elvis seeking revenge or merely acceptance? And will the Pastor’s strength of faith prepare him for the trials to come?

The King marks the English-speaking debut of Gael García Bernal, star of Y Tu Mama Tambien and Almodovar’s Bad Education and is directed by James Marsh, who created the haunting Wisconsin Death Trip.
