The Cave of the Yellow Dog in September

Tartan Video have announced the UK DVD release of The Cave of the Yellow Dog for 25th September 2006 priced at £19.99. Nominated for best Documentary Oscar for The Story of the Weeping Camel, Byambasuren Davaa has demonstrated a love for storytelling and a strong affinity with her chosen subjects. The Cave of the Yellow Dog continues her exploration of documentary and drama, as well as exploring the significance of myth in everyday life. Once she had chosen the nomadic family as her characters, she carefully crafted a simple, often funny, tale around them that brought out their own personalities keeping them in a natural environment. It richly captures the warmth and intimacy of the family group, especially the interplay of the children, but also lovingly depicts a Mongolian way of life that is disappearing, a simple life that is brimful of joy. Equally, the folk tales interwoven into the drama demonstrate traditions that are passed on from generation to generation.

Presented in Anamorphic Widescreen with DD5.1 & DTS 5.1 Surround audio, extras include a Tartan exclusive interview with Byambasuren Davaa.
