Tap & White Nights in August - Artwork added

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Tap and White Nights for 29th August 2006 priced at $19.94 SRP. Originally released theatrically in 1989, Tap stars the incomparable dance greats Gregory Hines (The Cotton Club, Waiting to Exhale, Running Scared) and Sammy Davis Jr. (Ocean’s Eleven, Porgy and Bess, Sweet Charity) in their first and only on screen appearance together. Tap is written and directed by Nick Castle (The Boy Who Could Fly, The Last Starfighter, Dennis the Menace) and features cameo performances by world renowned dancers Bunny Briggs, Steve Condos, Arthur Duncan, Savion Glover, Pat Rico, Howard ‘Sandman’ Sims, Jimmy Slyde and Harold Nicholas.

This never before released DVD includes new interviews with director Nick Castle, producer and Gregory Hines manager, Fran Saperstein, Tony Award® nominee Savion Glover (Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk, Black and Blue) and famous tap dancers from days-gone-by: Bunny Briggs, Jimmy Slyde and Henry LeTang. Plus vintage footage of the illustrious Hines and Davis Jr.

Directed by Taylor Hackford (Ray, Proof of Life, Against All Odds, An Officer and a Gentleman) it won an Oscar® and Golden Globe® for Best Song for Lionel Richie’s “Say You, Say Me.”

This never before released DVD special features include new interviews with director Taylor Hackford, and White Nights co-stars Isabella Rossellini and Helen Mirren as well as rare footage of the two foremost dancers of their time: ballet great Mikhail Baryshnikov and tap dancing genius Gregory Hines.
