The Louis Malle Collection Vol.2 (Optimum) in July
Optimum Home Entertainment have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of The Louis Malle Collection Volume 2 for 31st July 2006 priced at £39.99. After their first collection of films by the French New Wave director introduced us to his early work, this second collection brings together some gems from Malle’s later career. Au Revoir Les Enfants and Lacombe Lucien are two very different tales about troubled youth set during the Second World War. The theme of youth is continued with poignant and provocative coming of age tale Le Souffle Au Coeur, set in 1950s Dijon and the experimental fantasy Black Moon. The collection is completed by Milou en Mai, a chamber comedy set during the time of the 1968 Parisian uprisings.
All films are presented in Anamorphic Widescreen with French Stereo sound and permanent English subtitles. Extras include interviews with Malle on each film, and for Au Revoir Les Enfants there is also a profile of the character “Joseph” by filmmaker Guy Madden.
