Otogi Zoshi Vol.1 in June
Manga have announced the UK DVD release of Otogi Zoshi Volume 1 for 26th June 2006 priced at £17.99. From the acclaimed studio, Production I.G. (Ghost In The Shell; Blood: The Last Vampire; Kill Bill) comes OTOGI ZOSHI, a brand new 26 episode anime series that pushes the boundaries between historical reality and fantasy, challenging the perceptions of what is past and what is present.
Set over one thousand years ago during Japan's Heian Period, an era when the Imperial Court was at its peak and one particularly noted for its art, its literature and the rise of the samurai class, OTOGI ZOSHI takes real historical figures from the time and places them in a semi-fantasy world of high adventure. A uniquely stylized series, OTOGI ZOSHI takes a step back from the over-the-top visuals of more recent anime productions (such as Ghost In The Shell) by employing a combination of modern animation and illustrative techniques to mirror the artistry and design of this pinnacle period in the history of Japanese culture.
The first five episodes are included on the disc with the following features:
