Clooney to direct the Coen Brothers' new script, Suburbicon
After producing the cult classics Blood Simple, Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, Fargo and The Big Lebowski, the Coen Brothers' career took a turbo-charged nosedive after the critically and commercially mauled pairing of Intolerable Cruelty and The Ladykillers, which was their most recent directorial offering released in 2004. Well, after a hiatus of almost two years, it has been announced that George Clooney - fresh from directing the critically-acclaimed Good Night, and Good Luck which followed his assured debut, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind - will direct the Coens' latest script, Suburbicon.
Production is due to get underway within a year, with Clooney describing Suburbicon as "a really interesting, really funny, very dark comedy."
The Coens themselves have long been linked with directing To the White Sea since the project originally fell through after a series of unfortunate events in 2001. You can read a script review of that project here.
