Masai in November
Optimum Home Entertainment
have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of Masai for 21st November 2005 priced at £19.99. Pascal Plisson directs this beautifully filmed drama following a group of young Masai warriors in East Africa as they undertake a difficult journey for the survival of their village.
In the face of a drought which threatens the life of cattle and their people, the village elders send a group of young, inexperienced warriors to hunt down a mythical lion and kill it. Vitchoua, an incarnation of the Red God, the God of Revenge, is renowned for his ferocity. This exploit will enable the warriors to put an end to the curse which has taken over their community and thus bring back rain.
In this eventful quest across the plains of Kenya, the young warriors will learn the meaning of friendship and courage. Constantly confronted with danger, they must face up to treachery, fear and rivalry to become men.
Made in 2004 and inspired by Masai mythology, the film, although a work of fiction, is faithful to the reality of warriors. The film’s ten heroes are played by authentic Masai warriors natives of the Masai Mara (South Kenya).
