The Collected Adventures of Asterix in July
Optimum Home Entertainment have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of The Collected Adventures of Asterix for 31st July 2006 priced at £29.99. Originally due in November last year Optimum's release of the collected adventures of Asterix is back on track and due out at the end of July.
Together on DVD in one box-set for the first time ever, Asterix the Gaul, Asterix and Cleopatra, The Twelve Tasks of Asterix, Asterix and Caeser, Asterix in Britain and Asterix and The Big Fight are six classic animated films starring one of France’s most famous exports.
The year is 50 B.C. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well, not entirely...One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders. And life is not easy for the Roman legionaries who garrison the fortified camps of Totorum, Aquarium, Laudanum and Compendium that surround that very village.
Unfortunately for the Roman soldiers, the village is protected by Asterix, a cunning and diminutive warrior, who turns into a superhuman fighting machine once fortified with the druid Getafix’s magic potion. He is helped by his best friend, the gentle-hearted, menhir-toting Obelix, who’s always ready to drop everything and go on new adventures with his friend – as long as there’s plenty of wild boar to feast on!
Based on the classic comics by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, these unforgettable and hilarious films were made throughout 1967 to 1989 and are a treat for all ages.
All discs are barebones and English dub (DD2.0) only. The films are presented in 1.78:1 Anamorphic Widescreen with the exception of Astereix and Ceaser, Asterix in Britain (1.66:1 Anamorphic) and Asterix and The Big Fight (4:3).
