Psycho SE/The Hitchcock Collection (R2) in October

Universal Pictures have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of The Hitchcock Collection on 17th October 2005. SIR ALFRED Joseph Hitchcock was known as the Master of Suspense and 25 years after his death, he still remains the most imitated filmmaker of all time. He told his stories through intelligent plots, witty dialogue and a healthy dose of mystery and murder. In doing so, he inspired a new generation of filmmakers and revolutionised the thriller genre. On 17th October 2005 Universal Pictures will be paying homage to this movie legend with the release of a stunning new special edition of ’Psycho’ – arguably Hitchcock’s most celebrated work – along with the re-release of 15 other of his classic productions.

Retailing at £19.99, ‘Psycho’ will be released in fabulous red mirri board packaging together with a bonus disc, ‘The Hitchcock Legacy’, incorporating Masters of Cinema: Alfred Hitchcock and American Film Institute Salute to Alfred Hitchcock.

Available at just £9.99 the other Hitchcock titles comprise such all-time classics as ‘The Birds’ in which the inexplicable attack on the residents of Bodega Bay by birds of all shapes and sizes produces some of the most terrifying scenes ever committed to celluloid; ‘Vertigo’, hailed by critics as Hitchcock's ultimate masterpiece and featuring a bravura performance by James Stewart as a troubled detective pathologically afraid of heights and obsessed with a lost love and her look-alike and ‘Rear Window’, a witty and macabre tale of voyeurism and murder in which Jimmy Stewart is teamed this time with Grace Kelly. Also available: ‘Family Plot’, ‘Saboteur’, ‘Shadow of a Doubt’, ‘The Man Who Knew Too Much’, ‘Frenzy’, ‘Marnie’, ‘The Trouble With Harry’, ‘Rope’, ‘Torn Curtain’, ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ and ‘Foreign Correspondent’.

In addition to the single releases, a very special 15 disc Alfred Hitchcock Collection Box Set (14 titles plus bonus features disc) will also be released in November.
