Boulevard Raises Hell on UMD

Boulevard Entertainment is entering the world of new technology by becoming one of the forerunners in the distribution of UMDs (Universal Media Discs), securing releases for such titles as ‘HELLRAISER’, ‘HALLOWEEN’ and ‘THE EVIL DEAD’.

UMDs have been developed by Sony to be played exclusively on their PSP which is already setting the games market on fire in the States and looks set to do the same on 1st September when it is launched in the UK. The PSP is not only the new generation of personal games machine but, with the inception of the UMD, can play films of a quality never before seen or imagined possible in a portable player.

Boulevard has formed Boulevard UMD to harness this emerging market and, as such, has so far acquired 26 titles. They will actively be looking to acquire further product for UMD.

On 1st September, Boulevard will be releasing 8 titles including the best-selling Anime film of all time - ‘AKIRA’. This Manga title has already proved hugely successful theatrically, on video and DVD and now, if the reaction to its release in the States is anything to go by, is set to scale new heights on UMD.

Also included in Boulevard’s first selection of UMDs are three of the most popular horror films of all time - ‘HELLRAISER’, ‘HALLOWEEN’ and ‘THE EVIL DEAD’ - as well as ‘250 PREMIERSHIP GOALS COLLECTION’ which features goals from the 2004/05 season including ‘Goal of the Season’ from Wayne Rooney against Newcastle plus classic and memorable strikes from world class players such as David Beckham, Michael Owen, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Alan Shearer.

The other 3 titles out on 1st September are:- ‘THE INCREDIBLE HULK RETURNS’, ‘CHILDREN OF THE CORN’ and Manga film ‘GHOST IN THE SHELL (The Movie)’.
