From the PR:
Set for a nationwide U.K. DVD premiere on October 27th 2003 via Sanctuary Visual Entertainment, "Live Baby Live", is the ultimate live concert experience from the legendary Australian rock superstars INXS. Directed by David Mallet (Duran Duran, U2), Live Baby Live features twenty-one of the band's most identifiable songs performed during the sold-out event at London's prestigious Wembley Stadium.
Need You Tonight, Never Tear Us Apart, What You Need and Suicide Blonde are played with lusty precision. Instant classics including Original Sin and Devil Inside are given rigorous workouts in front of an ecstatic audience of 72,000.
Originally recorded on 13th July 1991, during INXS's "X-Factor World Tour", the concert is heralded as one of the band's greatest live performances captured on film. Band members Michael Hutchence (lead vocals), Kirk Pengilly (guitars, sax), Garry Gary Beers (bass guitar), and brothers Tim (guitars), Andrew (keyboards) and Jon Farriss (drums) gave the 72,000 strong crowd everything they had.
This spectacular concert was beautifully shot with 16 35mm cameras and boasts a thunderous live sound engineered by long time producer/associate Mark Opitz. An enormous smash hit success when it was originally released as a double live album in 1991; the concert remains a benchmark of high-quality presentation and execution.
"It's still the most memorable show - the one that sits in the heart," says Kirk Pengilly. "It's one of the best live DVD's I've ever seen. Not because it was us, but because of the way it was shot and filmed. It's fantastic."
Since the group's inception as The Farriss Brothers in 1977, INXS has always reached for, and attained, success in everything they have pursued. Be it memorable hit singles, popular hit albums, innovative videos, massive world tours, various awards and chart success (including a recent Lifetime Achievement ARIA), INXS has done it all. Tragically, in 1997, the band lost lead singer and lyricist Michael Hutchence.
INXS's contribution to the rock'n'roll archives is warmly acknowledged with the timely DVD release of Live Baby Live. This unique live concert is a testament to a collection of magnificent rock'n'roll songs performed by a great band at their peak.
"I couldn't get the grin off my face from the time we walked on stage to the time we walked off," recalls guitarist Tim Farriss. "It was just so cool. I wasn't nervous. I just thought I'm going to enjoy this."
