2nd Wave of Warner World Cinema in April
Warner Home Video celebrates the finest European avant-garde film making with the release of three classic World Cinema DVD sets from the Studio Canal library on 4th April 2005.
The second wave of World Cinema classics follows in the footsteps of Warner's excellently received triple DVD box sets in September 2004. The latest releases showcasing the best of French and Spanish 20th Century cinema are collections from Luis Buñuel, Jean-Luc Goddard (both £29.99 RRP) and Jean-Pierre Melville (£15.99 RRP). Many of these films have never been released on DVD in the UK.
The Luis Buñuel DVD Collection Vol. 2 includes Oscar nominated films That Obscure Object Of Desire and The Discreet Charm Of The Bourgeoisie, as well as The Phantom Of Liberty which best epitomizes Buñuel's position as the father of cinematic surrealism.
The Jean Pierre Melville DVD Double Feature includes two of his best known works - Bob Le Flambeur and Un Flic. French New Wave director Jean-Luc Godard's work was heavily influenced by Melville - one of his most obscure films (Made In USA) finally gets a first ever UK release in the Jean-Luc Godard DVD Collection Vol. 2 and is joined by Pierrot Le Fou and Prenom Carmen.
