New Year's Viewing
I've decided to start using my blog to write a bit about the DVDs and films I watch as I see them. And what better way to start than look at what I watched over New Year's Eve...
First to hit my DVD player yesterday was Sarah McLachlan's Afterglow Live Region 0 DVD which accompanies the CD. And for a bonus disc I was very impressed - not only does it feature an extended number of tracks when compared to the CD, but the presentation was pretty good too with a nice anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) transfer and a choice of stereo or Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. I'm a fairly recent convert to Sarah's music and adore her haunting voice, this DVD is definitely something that will see a lot of viewing. It's definitely a bit of a bargain and I hope finds a place in every one of her fan's collections - if you're partial to female singer/songwriters, Sarah McLachlan is definitely worthy of your time and money.
The rest of my NYE viewing consisted of rewatches of both Toy Story II and Monsters Inc. - in my opinion examples of Pixar at their best. Their most recent DVD, Finding Nemo, whilst visually stunning lacks something that made the previous films something special but I can't quite put my finger on it. Likewise, The Incredibles also didn't quite hit the same spots but I don't know why.
Anyway, that's enough of my rambling - I hope you all had a great new year.
