From the PR:
The name Clark Kent is recognizable to generations of fans, but never before has there been an interpretation of the Superman legend quite like Smallville. Growing up in Smallville, Kansas, Clark Kent (Tom Welling) is a teenager who is slowly discovering his destiny as the champion of justice who will one day be known the world over as Superman. Someday, he’ll master his powers and true calling, but for now he just has to get through adolescence. Smallville uses state-of-the-art special effects to reinterpret the Superman mythology from its roots.
Smallville is a mix of hot newcomers Tom Welling (Clark Kent), Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luther) and Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang) and seasoned actors such as John Schneider (Jonathan Kent), best remembered for his role as Bo Duke in Dukes of Hazzard and Annette O’Toole (Martha Kent), who is no stranger to Superman fans having starred as Lana Lang alongside Christopher Reeve in Superman III. Accomplished actor John Glover (Lionel Luther) also joins the cast having previously starred in Payback, Batman & Robin, Robocop 2 & Gremlins 2.
The deluxe DVD collection of Smallville contains super special features including audio commentaries by executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Shanghai Noon, Shanghai Nights, Spiderman II), and pilot director David Nutter (Dark Angel, Roswell, The West Wing, Band of Brothers). Additional special features include deleted scenes, a ‘Pilot’ storyboard montage, an interactive map of Smallville, trailer, English and French audio and English, French, Dutch, Hungarian, Turkish, Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian, and Arabic subtitles.
This latest quality US TV import to hit our shores since Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel, Smallville is broadcast on E4 and C4 with a regular 2.1 million people tuning in each week. With its hip and sexy cast, Smallville has mass appeal, generating a huge following of male and female fans in the UK for whom the Series 1 Collector’s set makes the perfect gift this Christmas.
