Buffy the Vampire Slayer

More rumours have come my way with regards to Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Region 2 DVD. A January 2001 release is now pretty much certain and we can also be sure to expect a commentary track by Joss Whedon. The first season will be released in one boxset towards the end of January featuring all 12 episodes.

I've also been told by one source that there may be some cast and crew interviews included in the boxset and that my earlier rumour that the unbroadcast presentation pilot episode is likely to be true.

Around the same time we can also expect a DVD release of the movie that started it all. Quite how a movie as average as Buffy the Vampire Slayer managed to spawn such a well written and interesting TV series is open to debate!

My source suggests that these initial releases will be followed up with a Season Two boxset featuring half of the season in March, and the second half will follow in June. Season Three boxset one is then expected in August and boxset two in October.

Whether all this pans out is another matter entirely. If it does, it looks like the UK should be getting the releases slightly earlier than in the US - although the gap will most likely be negligible.

Previous reports on Buffy can be found here and here.
