PS2 Launch Really *is* Delayed
Well, here's the news you've all been expecting, the Sony Playstation 2 has officially been delayed in Europe. Following on the from the news that the pre-order date has been put back some three weeks, Sony has followed up that little gem with a one month delay on the actual store release date. The unit will now hit European shores on the 24th November, a full month later than expected.
Of course, the residents of the good old US of A will still be treated to the machine on the date it was originally intended along with their faster and smoother NTSC versions of software - but I'm not bitter. The delay is, allegedly, in order to make sure that there are enough machines made available from day one although why Europe suffers rather than America is not made clear.
To make matters even worse (is that possible?), a potential price hike has been reported in Computer Trade Weekly from the oft touted £299 to a somewhat higher £349. Well, what can I say other than, "Oh bugger."
