Paramount for the rest of 2000
I've just spoken to Paramount's PR company and they've confirmed some details for their plans foe the rest of the year.
Starting on 4 September we have 48 Hours (Non-anamorphic 1.85:1, DD5.1, Trailer), Black Rain (Non-anamorphic 2.35:1, DD5.1), A Night At The Roxbury (Anamorphic 1.78:1, DD5.1, Trailer, Featurette), Top Gun (Anamorphic 2.0:1, DD5.1), Varsity Blues (Anamorphic 1.78:1, DD5.1, Trailer, Featurette) and War of the Worlds (Non-anamorphic 1.33:1, DD2.0, Trailer).
The next batch is expected on 2 October and consists of Barberella, Witness, Apocalypse Now, Star Trek: Generations and First Wives Club. Things pick up slightly on 6 November with releases of Saving Private Ryan, The General's Daughter, Breakfast At Tiffany's, The Hunt For Red October, Clear & Present Danger, Patriot Games, Civil Action and Jade.
Finally to round off we have Event Horizon, The Saint, The Firm, Clueless, Election, Ghost In The Darkness, Scrooged and Another 48 Hours on 4 December.
It's pretty certain that all of Paramount's Region 2 output for the rest of the year at least is going to match the Region 1 equivalents in terms of content and presentation - this is not necessarily a good thing as some of the Region 1 releases have debateable picture quality. The retail prices are still set at £19.99 which is also a little disappointing given the limited content on every disc.
