X-Box delayed while the PS2 finally reappears!
Microsoft have announced that the X-Box will not make an appearance in Europe during 2001 - instead it is now expected in Spring 2002 allowing the company to focus on its US and Japan plans this year.
This could be a good thing in that we get a machine with fewer bugs - but it also means that Sony are going to get over a year with the console market to themselves. Sega seem unwilling to take advantage of the numerous opportunities that were made available due to the multitude of cock-ups with the Playstation 2 launch, which means that despite being the strongest system (in my opinion of course) in terms of quality releases, the Dreamcast can no longer really be considered a serious contender.
On a related note, according to trade publication CTW the Playstation 2 has finally started filtering through with 400,000 machines expected in the UK by 31 March. We already know that some stores have machine available for general sale including Toys R Us and the various Dixons Group chains (PC World, Dixons and Currys).
