Entertainment in Video have announced a Region 2 rerelease of Se7en. Following on from the recent New Line release in the US, this new package will consist of two discs packed to the brim with extra material on the making of the film and DVD.

In terms of content, the UK release will be much the same as the Region 1 disc - including the DTS soundtrack if the press release is to be believed. The main feature will be presented in 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital 2.0, Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 sound. The first disc will also include four commentary tracks as laid out below:

  • The Stars featuring David Fincher (Director), Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman
  • The Story hosted by Richard Dyer, Author of the BFI Modern Classics Series' Seven and featuring David Fincher, Screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker, Editor Richard Francis-Bruce and New Line President of Production Michael De Luca
  • The Picture features Richard Dyer, David Fincher, Richard Francis-Bruce, Director of Photography Darius Khondji and Production Designer Arthur Max and examines the 'look' of the film
  • The Sound looks at the audio aspects of the production and features Richard Dyer, David Fincher, Composer Howard Shore and Sound Designer Ren Klyce

Disc two will feature another hundred minutes of additional material including:

  • Exploration of the opening title sequence: three stages in the development of the innovative title sequence - storyboards, rough cut and final edit. There are two optional commentary tracks which aim to explain the process even further.
  • Deleted scenes and extended takes: around twenty minutes of scenes and extended takes. Once again there's an optional commentary to explain the reasons for the alterations and cuts.
  • Alternative endings: the original test screening ending along with the original storyboards.
  • Still photos with commentary
  • John Doe's Notebooks: an 8 minute feature wiuth optional commentary
  • Promotional materials: 7 minute making of featurette, filmographies, original trailer
  • Mastering for the home theatre: a look at the process of creating this DVD version of Se7en

The only area that appears to have been missed off is the DVD-ROM material which was present on the Region 1 releases - whether this is a mistake as far as the press release goes, or the material is indeed missing is unknown but only detracts slightly.

Se7en is due for release on 19 February and will retail for £19.99.
