Hitchcock in the Rain
Warner have announced four new titles for release on 9 April. We get two Hitchcock classics and two titles for the musically minded. All four discs will retail for £12.99.
North by Northwest should feature the same stunning transfer that graced the Region 1 disc. This received a lot of praise when it first appeared and was voted for in the best restoration category of our awards at the end of last year. The disc will feature a 1.78:1 anamorphic transfer, DD5.1 sound a whole host of extras including:
- Destination Hitchcock: The Making of North by Northwest (39 mins)
- Feature-length audio commentary by Screenwriter Ernest Lehman
- TV Spot
- Still Gallery
- Music Only Track (2.0)
Strangers on a Train comes in two versions - the original American theatrical release AND the alternative British version. In terms of presentation, this one is a black and white 1.33:1 transfer with mono sound. We also get some Hitchcock newsreel footage and a trailer.
Singin' In The Rain is a pretty basic disc - we get the original 1.33:1 aspect ratio and mono sound. There aren't any extras listed in the press release, but we can't really complain given that this is one of Warner's low-priced titles.
Finally, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers will feature a 2.35:1 widescreen transfer, DD5.1 sound along with a making-of documentary and a trailer.
