DVD Sales Figures
have sent through a press release detailing the current state of play in the DVD market within the UK. One million DVD players were in place at the end of last year, and since then a further 500,000 have been installed in people's homes. The total figure is expected to reach 3 million by the end of 2001 - almost 10% of UK homes may have a player!
Awareness of the format is now estimated at 99% of the UK population - which is of course a very good thing! The majority of DVD releases now retail at £15.99 or less - prices seem to be creeping down slowly, and 4000 titles are currently on general release which is almost on par with VHS.
