Christmas comes in November (according to Fox!)

Twentieth Century Fox have announced a few 'Christmas' titles which are all due for release on 5 November. We have one classic (A Christmas Carol), one animation (Anastasia) and one remake (Miracle on 34th Street) which should keep both kids and their parents quiet in the run-up to Christmas. All three will retail for £15.99.

A Christmas Carol is based on the well-known story by Charles Dickens and tells the tale of a stingy rich man who is visited by the ghost of his dead partner as he attempts to get him to change his ways. George C Scott stars as Ebenezer Scrooge, while Frank Finlay is the spirit, Jacob Marley. A Christmas Carol also stars Angela Pleasence, Edward Woodward and Michael Carter as the ghosts of Christmases - Past, Present and Future. The DVD will feature a 4:3 full-screen transfer and English Dolby Digital 2.0 sound but nothing in the way of extras.

Miracle on 34th Street is the fairly recent film which stars Richard Attenborough as the festive bearded fellow who is employed by Dorey Walker (Elizabeth Perkins) when her usual Santa goes astray. The DVD will feature a 1.85:1 anamorphic transfer and English Dolby Digital 5.0 sound. Once again we don't get any extras.

Finally, Anastasia is the animated story of the last surviving member of the Romanov family. The film tells the real-life tale of the disappearance of the Grand Duchess of Russia whilst fleeing the uprising with her Grandmother. Ten years later, all of the Imperial family are dead, killed by the evil Rasputin and nobody knows what happened to the young Anastasia. Voices are provided by such stars as Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Kelsey Grammer, Christopher Lloyd and Hank Azaria. The DVD features a 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, a 22-minute documentary hosted by the late R&B singer Aaliyah, a featurette, three Karaoke sing-a-longs, three interactive puzzles and the original theatrical trailer.
