BBC DVD releases in May
The BBC has just announced three DVD releases for May, and would you believe it two of them are based on football!
May 6th - Only Fools and Horses - Dates is the feature length episode first broadcast on BBC One on Christmas Day 1998 to an audience of 16.6million viewers. With Only Fools and Horses DVD releases having amassed 163,000 copies sold to date, this record number in the non-film DVD market continues to prove the timeless quality and popularity of the series. With an 80-minute running time this DVD will retail at £15.99.
May 20th - 1966 World Cup Final - England v West Germany - That’s right, from May 20th the BBC will provide you with the original black & white match that now includes a brand new, specially recorded commentary by Gordon Banks, Martin Peters, Jack Charlton, George Cohen and Geoff Hurst. Added extras include an interview with Tina Moore, recorded on location at West Ham FC's 1966 Lounge and recollections from Kenneth Wolstenholme. Also included is a 20-minute documentary covering the events surrounding the build up to the finals, a photo gallery and player profiles. Retail is set at £15.99.
May 20th - Michael Owen's Soccer Skills examines the Owen magic by exploring his technique and featuring some of the golden moments in his career. Produced and aimed at young players between the ages of 10-14, the DVD examines key aspects of the game with Owen demonstrating techniques that will improve any aspiring player's basic skills. All elements of the game are covered including passing, tackling, dribbling and shooting through set pieces, tricks and tactics.
Owen introduces and demonstrates to a group of 12 youngsters, alongside professional coach Simon Clifford, well known for his work in introducing Brazilian football methods to a UK audience through a major network of soccer academies. In passing on his tips to the group, Owen puts the accent on enjoyment as the key factor no matter how unskilled the player. Retail is £12.99.
