Asian films on French DVD...

...with English subtitles! French DVD distributor MK2 will release three Asian movies on September 4th 2002 in France but unlike most French releases of Asian movies these discs are set to include English subtitles. The films are...


Cure - an excellent Japanese thriller from Kiyoshi Kurosawa will be presented in Anamorphic Widescreen with Japanese DD5.1 Sound and optional English (and French) subtitles. Extra features are limited to Trailers and an introduction by Thierry Jousse.

Made in Hong Kong, a Chinese film from Fruit Chan will be presented in Anamorphic Widescreen with Cantonese DD5.1 Audio and optional English (and French) subtitles. Extra features are again limited to Trailers and an introduction by Thierry Jousse.

Goodbye South, Goodbye, a Taiwanese film from Hou Hsiao-Hsien will be presented in Anamorphic Widescreen with Taiwanese DD5.1 Audio and optional English (and French) subtitles. Extra features include Trailers, an introduction by Thierry Jousse and a 90-minute documentary from Olivier Assayas.

Both Amazon France and Cinestore have the discs on pre-order for 148,44FF.

UPDATE - Since these titles have been released it has emerged that they most likely do NOT include English subtitles, despite the fact that initial specifications stated they did.
