From the PR...
He goes by the name of Jason Bourne, but he doesn't know who he really is, or why he is so good at killing with cold-blooded proficiency. What he does know is this: he's a walking, running target.
Richard Chamberlain (as Bourne) and Jaclyn Smith headline a breathless heart-stopper based on the best-selling espionage thriller by acclaimed writer Robert Ludlum (filmed again in 2002 and starring Matt Damon). Bourne is an amnesia victim determined to uncover his forgotten past. Why does his face show signs of plastic surgery? Who stitched microfilm beneath the flesh of his hip? Why did two passers-by flee after recognising him? The answers are puzzle pieces scattered from Zurich to Paris to New York - and the keys to the true identities behind The Bourne Identity.
Richard Chamberlain is the king of some of the highest rating TV mini series ever to grace the screen including the epics The Thorn Birds, Shogun and The Count of Monte Christo. Also the star of numerous major feature films, Chamberlain took the role of Aramis in box office smash The Three Mustekeers and its sequels and set hearts fluttering as the enigmatic Dr. Kildare. Jaclyn Smith rose to fame as Private Eye Kelly Garrett in the smash hit TV show Charlies Angel's and re-emerges in the role in the forthcoming Charlie's Angels 2 feature film.
Chamberlain portrays just the right combination of vulnerability and ruthlessness as Jason Bourne and Jaclyn Smith impresses as Dr. Marie St. Jacques, a Canadian economist whose life intertwines with that of the spy on the run. The stunning cinematography fully exploits the exotic Swiss and French settings.
