Solaris - Released a few weeks prior to the Steven Soderbergh remake hits the US Cinemas is the 1972 Russian original that boasts an all new digital 2.35:1 transfer with Anamorphic Enhancement and the original DD1.0 Mono Russian soundtrack with a new and improved English subtitle translation. Extra features present on the disc include an Audio essay by Tarkovsky scholars Vida Johnson and Graham Petrie, co-authors of The Films of Andrei Tarkovsky: A Visual Fugue, Nine deleted and alternate scenes, Video interviews with lead actress Natalya Bondarchuk, cinematographer Vadim Yusov, art director Mikhail Romadin, and composer Eduard Artemyev, and a Documentary excerpt with Solaris author Stanislaw Lem.
Contempt - This 1963 Jean-Luc Godard title will be blessed with two discs, the first contains an all new high-definition digital transfer (2.35:1), supervised by cinematographer Raoul Coutard and enhanced for widescreen televisions with the original French DD2.0 Stereo track, a new and improved English subtitle translation, an optional English Dub track and an Audio commentary by film scholar Robert Stam. Disc Two features The Dinosaur and the Baby (1967): a conversation between Jean-Luc Godard and Fritz Lang (61 minutes), Fritz Lang on the set of Contempt (1963), a short film by Peter Fleischmann, Two documentaries featuring Godard on the set of Contempt: Bardot et Godard (8 minutes) and Paparazzi (22 minutes), Jean-Luc Godard interview excerpt (1964), a new video interview with legendary cinematographer Raoul Coutard and finally the original theatrical trailer.
